It is mid October and I planted some shallots I purchased in the grocery store in a well drained flower bed.  They should not rot from too much water but they may not sprout as the ground has cooled.  If they don’t sprout now, I expect that they will sprout in the spring.

We pulled some shallots that I planted at the end of August and had them in a salad tonight.  I have problems with neighboring cats so I put green plastic wire on the ground to discourage cats but it makes it harder to harvest the vegetables.
